June 10, 2008
Raleigh, NC

It is time to make your voices heard! Hemophilia of North Carolina's Legislative Day provides an opportunity for families and individuals across the state to meet with their elected representatives and staff to convey some of the critical issues the community faces and ask for their support. It is a chance to let your voices be heard and share your personal stories. We encourage you to bring along your family, pictures, insurance explanations of benefits (EOBs) and any other information you'd like to share. The community is facing significant challenges to access to care, and we need your voice!

We will have an exhibit booth available on that day in the Legislative Building and, along with the individual meetings, will help to raise awareness amongst the Legislators and general public concerning issues in the bleeding disorders community.

A breakfast reception and training meeting is planned for the morning of June 10th at the Holiday Inn Brownstone Hotel located at 1707 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC (www.brownstonehotel.com). At this reception, representatives will help to prepare everyone for their meetings with the Legislators by reviewing the issues identified in our Talking Points, learning techniques that help get your message across, and how to explain to your representative what they can do to help.

After the morning reception, a shuttle will transport everyone to the Legislative Building for their individual meetings. Meeting times and lists will be set up in advance so everyone will have an opportunity to meet with their representatives and staff.

Lunch will be provided for all attendees while at the Legislative Building.

After the meeting, the shuttle will transport everyone back to the hotel for a dinner and overview of the day's events.

For individual members and families who must travel some distance to attend, HNC will provide a hotel room for the night of Monday, June 9th. If hotel accommodations are needed, please indicate this on the registration form (online or printable pdf*). Industry representatives may take advantage of the HNC group rate of $89 per night by making reservations on their own (contact the Holiday Inn Brownstone Hotel Reservations Department at (919)828-0811 or toll free at (800)331-7919). The guaranteed group rate is available until Monday, May 19th.

This event creates a wonderful opportunity for the North Carolina bleeding disorders community to participate in the policy decision-making process that impacts our day-to-day lives. We encourage you to take advantage of this exciting opportunity!
