You Did It: $50,000 Goal Reached – Congratulations!

October 16, 2008

Well, you did it...and then some! My congratulations to all of you who have been working tirelessly to help reach our goal of $50,000 for the 2008 Hemophilia Walk this Saturday. As the first Hemophilia Walk ever to be held in North Carolina, you should be very proud of this accomplishment and I know we are going to far surpass this goal by Walk Day. Our efforts, combined with those of the other walk sites and national sponsorships, have raised over $1 million dollars so far to help support the National Hemophilia Foundation and local Chapters in research, education, advocacy, and awareness. What a terrific job by everyone and my heartfelt thank you for helping to make this possible.

We are certainly hoping the weather cooperates for us but we'll be out there rain or shine! Now, besides watching the Walk web site and its numbers I find myself watching the weather.com site as well :-)   If all holds true, the rain should make its way out of the area by late Friday and begin with a sunny start for us on Saturday!

As of this writing, we have raised a total of $51,286, have 38 teams on the roster and 412 registered walkers/fundraisers helping in the effort. I can honestly say that there are so many new registrations coming through now that I can't keep up in my responses and logging the information - what a wonderful problem to have :-)   We would like to take this opportunity to recognize on our two new teams this week: Jai's Walk for Hemophilia Research, led by Jamie Norwood and another Y-Princess group, the Soaring Angels Tribe, led by David Booth. Welcome, and we look forward to seeing you on Saturday!

Sadly, I did not have time to highlight all of our Walk teams in my emails but would like to thank each and every one of them for their wonderful passion and support in getting the word out and helping to reach the goal. I know you're going to miss these updates but unfortunately, this will probably be my last one with the exception of the after Walk final $ tally & recap of the day. Thank you for taking the time to read my messages. I hope they have inspired and encouraged you to make a difference!

Very sincerely,

— Susan Cowell
