Blood Brotherhood Winter Wrap-up
Saturday, November 19, 2016 – 3:00pm-6:00pm
260 Town Hall Dr., Suite A
Are you an adult male (18+) living with a bleeding disorder? We invite all Blood Brothers and their spouse/partner for a “Winter Wrap-Up” on Saturday, November 19 from 3:00pm – 6:00pm at the HNC Office. Jennifer Newman, Physical Therapist at UNC-Chapel Hill, will teach you about using kinesio tape (KT).
Kinesio tape (sometimes called kinesiology tape) has been widely used by athletes in recent years. You've probably seen it in use, but may not have known its name or purpose. If you watched any of the Olympic Games this summer you would have seen it on athletes in sports ranging from archery and beach volleyball to diving, gymnastics and water polo. In our session, Jennifer will focus on how to prepare and apply the tape for acute muscle or joint bleeds, and to decrease pain and/or swelling in chronically affected joints.
Since this will be a "hands on" session, participants are advised to wear appropriate clothing (loose-fitting, layers, etc.) for easy access to their affected joints and muscles. Those who wish to bring other clothes may use the restroom as a changing area.
After the session, we'll enjoy a catered dinner followed by board games and poker (optional). If you have a good game that others might enjoy, please bring it along. This will be the last Blood Brotherhood event in 2016, but we'll look forward to more great activities in 2017.
Please register by Tuesday, November 15. We look forward to seeing you there!
