HNC HOPE Educational Dinner
Back to School: 504 Plans in your School
Join Hemophilia of North Carolina (HNC), CSL Behring, and Realo Specialty Care Pharmacy for dinner and an educational presentation, Back to School: 504 Plans* in Your School, presented by Ann Lowish. Learn tips and tricks as to how 504 plans and working with your school can pave the way for success. This presentation is part of HNC’s HOPE Program, for families with children with a bleeding disorder. This presentation and dinner is free and we highly encourage families to attend.
Ann Lowish is a registered nurse who has been involved in the bleeding disorders community since 1980. One of her greatest passions is seeing advancement to full potential in every individual, which can be achieved by full participation in school and a good, strong education.
HNC’s HOPE Program provides emotional and educational support, and resources, for families with children twelve and under with a bleeding disorder. Registration priority will be given to HNC members who have a child in this age range with a bleeding disorder.
Please register by Thursday, July 18, 2019. If you have any questions, contact the HNC office at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 800-990-5557.
*504 plans provide accommodations for children with disabilities to give them the support that they need to be successful in school. These plans are a provision of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which is a civil rights law that prevents discrimination and protects the rights of people with disabilities – including those with bleeding disorders.
Plans are tailored to the individual student's needs. For a child with a bleeding disorder a 504 plan might include such things as a rest period during the day, accommodations for administration of medication, a customized physical education program, or a modified attendance policy.
This event is being offered free to all HNC members and their immediate families. Priority will be given to HNC members who are not affiliated with a specialty pharmacy, home care, or pharmaceutical company that caters to the bleeding disorders community. If your group includes more than four persons, please contact the HNC office before registering.
optional: After the educational presentation is complete, attendees will have an opportunity to speak with CSL Behring and Realo Specialty Care Pharmacy representatives about products and services they offer to the community.
PLEASE NOTE: Information about these companies' products and services is being provided as a public service only. As a non-profit advocate for the bleeding disorders community, Hemophilia of North Carolina does not endorse any treatment products, manufacturers, home care services, or individual medical providers.
