There When You Need Us
Saturday September 6, 2008 – 3:00-7:00pm
Charlotte, NC
On Saturday, September 6th members of the HNC Latino community gathered together for an afternoon of good food, great fun and a chance to learn some very valuable information about support and treatment.
The group was treated to a presentation in Spanish by Harold R. Roberts, MD, Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Medicine and Pathology at UNC-CH. Dr. Roberts discussed the history of hemophilia treatment along with sharing his vision for the future.
After the presentation Guillermo Sánchez, HNC Hispanic Liaison, spoke about the importance of creating a network of support, and helped guide the members in deciding a name for the group, "Union Latina de Personas con Hemofilia" (The Latin Union for People with Hemophilia) and discussing future opportunities which are already in the planning!
After some delicious food, the group was entertained by Mariachi Los Caporales and Adrian the Magician. Dinner was followed with a presentation by Patricia Espinosa-Thomson, a Spanish Health Educator with Baxter BioScience.
