Overview and General Information

What: The Hemophilia Walk is the National Hemophilia Foundation's (NHF) largest event dedicated to finding better treatments and cures for bleeding and clotting disorders, and to preventing the complications of these disorders through awareness, education, advocacy and research. The walk in North Carolina is a collaborative effort between NHF and Hemophilia of North Carolina (HNC). The North Carolina chapter is proud to be one of 31 locations around the country participating in this program and the proceeds will help our chapter continue to provide programs and services to our local community.

Why: Established in 1948, NHF is the premier organization in the U.S. serving the bleeding and clotting disorders community. Now in its 66th year, NHF continues to be a vital resource for prevention education and provides a network of support for Americans living with bleeding disorders and their families. HNC has been assisting the bleeding disorders community in the state for over 40 years. We support families through ongoing educational programs, peer support groups, patient advocacy, emergency financial assistance, scholarships and support for summer camps that our children attend.

When and Where:

• Saturday, June 20th, 2015
  Check-in begins at 9:00am / Walk begins at 10:00am

  Check-in begins at 9:00am / Walk begins at 10:00am
  Location: Lake Crabtree County Park, Morrisville, NC – Map (pdf/247kb)

Distance: 5K Walk / 3.1 Miles or 1.5 Miles (short route)

How: Sign up for the Walk online by visiting www.hemophilia.org/walk. Everyone is welcome to participate!

Teams: Form a team – Enlist as a Team Captain, choose a Team name and recruit team members from your circle of friends, family, co-workers and neighbors.

Volunteer: Help us make our event a success. Volunteers are appreciated before and/or during the Walk. Unable to do the Walk but still want to participate? Enlist as a Volunteer. Call HNC at 800-990-5557 or email us at info@hemophilia-nc.org for more details.

Team Information and Resources

A team is a group of people who come together to support the Hemophilia Walk. It can be made up of family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, or members of your book club, place of worship, sewing club, etc.

• Team T-Shirts – More than anything else, Team T-shirts unite a group of walkers as a TEAM the day of a Walk. We are very excited to be able to offer free team T-shirts this year to our walkers through the support of GRIFOLS. Order Form (pdf/534kb).
